There are many environments where static discharge can cause the following:

Stat-Safe® is a polymer sheet, available with
an internal fabric reinforcement, that is designed
for maximum control of static electricity for a
variety of applications. Made of high quality PVC with a proven ESD additive that prevents charge generation and dissipates charge to ground. Stat-Safe prevents electrostatic discharge events and controls particulate attraction. The ESD performance is completely humidity-independent and permanent.
It is ideal for manufacturing/assembly of charge-sensitive components, helping to prevent instantaneous and concealed ESD-caused product defects. It is easily fabricated into bags, covers and other finished materials.
NOTE: The designation "anti-stat" used for some products represents a less effective ESD product than Stat-Safe, which is affected by humidity and has a measurable half-life. Additionally, PVC with ESD coating is NOT the same as Stat-Safe, in which the ESD compound is added into the mix before extrusion.
